An excellent ladle for casting lead. Glider ballast, nose weights, etc. Pour lead shot into the ladle and apply heat via a propane or MAP gas torch. Once melted, pour into your mold. Very handy if you are casting lead weights. Easy clean up - After pouring we tap the ladle on the ground to remove any slag.
2-1/4" wide bowl - 1 lbs capacity - 9" wood handle stays cool.
Self-skimming - clean pouring from the bottom of the bowl. Provides uniform pour rate and helps prevent floating surface dross and contaminants from entering the mold cavities. Cast iron bowls; wood handle remains cool.
Warning - handle lead with caution! When melting metals, always have excellent ventilation.
This is the perfect size for the small lead casting projects I am doing. The bottom pour leaves all the impurities on the surface for a clean cast. Even though the inner surface is pretty rough, it cleaned up very well.
