Replacement side sliders from FrSky. These are the NEW design with smooth action and centering detent. A massive improvement over the previous ratcheting style. If your radio was built prior to February 2014, it will have the older style sliders.
Have a bad slider? Here is your solution, simple install.
This is a pair of side slider assemblies as used in the LS RS position of the Taranis.
Includes one left side, and one right side slider. Please note that you will need to make sure you have the sliders on the correct side of the radio, the knobs will be positioned slightly differently, so if you have very little movement of the slider, chances are you have them in on the wrong side.
Added these to my 9x, lovin' it.
The original sliders were flimsy and ratcheted so you only had some specific positions, maybe 15 or so. They felt flimsy and so loose that any touch would accidentally move them.
These new ones have a nice smooth feel to them when moving them. Firm but still easy enough to move. But there is a big notch in the center. Not that I particulary mind a center notch but this one swallows up all values from -20 to +20, or a solid 20% of possible values if you prefer. In essence it's impossible to finetune anything near the center value. Really unnecessary!
Installation was fairly simple, just unscrew and open the radio and remove one or two plugs to be able to replace the old ones. Just took a minute to figure out which is left and which is right of them.
I'm only giving it a three because of that center notch that makes a fair bit of fine-tuning impossible, because to me this is the important part of replacing the old ratcheted sliders.
(Note from Wayne: Think about applying a curve to your slider to regain center tuning ability, but still have full throw if needed, let the radio do the work for you.)
Wayne said I'd like them and I do!
They also did double duty. I used the old switch leads to extend the new ones. This allowed me to move the trainer switch ( SH) to the left side I'm used to and the throttle switch(SF) to the right side. So easy!
I've also ordered the spare label set so I can cut and stick the proper switch label over the old one. I like to keep the switches labeled correctly to match the manual. Helps a lot weeks and months later when I'll forget.
So I got new smooth sliders and a longer switch cable all for one low price. Took 3 days from the time I ordered on line!
Do the mod - you wont regret it.
I have bought some parts from Aloft Hobbies now and they are oustanding when it comes to low price and fast shipping (to Europe) - highly recommended!
Installed the new sliders-very smooth with a positive center detent. Now I can trust that my camber slider will stay where I want it. My only complaint was that I also had to disconnect the plugs on switches F and H , requiring removal of one of the switches to get to the plug, but it wasn't a really big deal. But that would be a good time if you want to turn switch F into a momentary switch, too. (Part is available from Aloft).
Got really fast and inexpensive delivery via 1st class USPS, too. Thanks!!!
First of all Taranis Radio is awesome! I got one of the first ones made. It wasn't perfect when it came out, and I understand that. For the price point FrSky hit a home run. When I first took it out of the case the sliders screamed CHEAP, but I lived with it. What I love about the company is that they listen to the consumer, fix the issues, and make the parts available for a decent price. So far I have replaced the gimbals for FREE, and spent a few bucks on the charge circuit and sliders. What other manufacturer offers this kind of support? BTW sliders are silky smooth and have a quality feel. On a final note Aloft Hobbies ROCKS!!
Sliders work great, much better than original.
these are the new sliders, they feel so much better than the original stock sliders, they stay put.
I love sliders, and I really love quality sliders that are very positive in their movement. The original sliders were anything but this and were my least favorite part of the radio. Compared to the sliders on my Aurora 9 they were a flimsy joke. No amount of toying with them, bending the flat spring to increase tension, extra grease, less grease, would help.
These new sliders are fantastic! The center detent is positive and deep. The smooth movement of the new sliders feels worlds better than the old offering. Just the right amount of resistance to let your fingers know where the slider is in its travel.
I have the left slider controlling flaps on my full house sail plane, and the right slider controls the entire trailing edge. No more accidental bumps with these upgraded sliders.
Highly recommended upgrade for an already outstanding radio.
These are the new sliders, in case you were wondering. They are smooth as silk and have a clear center detent.
Great product. Great service.
