Introducing the Mace 2, produced by Japanese manufacturer PILOT.
The Mace 2 is a 2.58 meter electric glider with sheeted foam wings and a stout fuselage. This makes the Mace 2 a middleweight electric glider that is tougher than the typical film over balsa ribs thermal ship. The Mace 2 sports ailerons, flaps, rudder and a full flying horizontal stabilizer. The flaps and ailerons are controlled by independent servos allowing full featured mixing; full span ailerons, snap flaps, crow/butterfly etc. The wing construction is sheeted balsa over foam cores and covered in iron on film. Servo pockets are precut and the control surface hinges are installed with exception to the rudder. The white gelcoated fuselage is laid up from 2.4GHz friendly fiberglass and is very strong and feels stout in the hand. The motor mount and canopy retainer are preinstalled. The bell crank and pushrod for the full flying stab are also pre installed which saves a bunch of time.
In the small bits department the kit comes with servo clevis's and control horns, screws and washers for mounting the motor, shrink tubing for the servos (for gluing servos into the wing) and for the servo extensions (keeps them from coming unplugged), a ply servo tray and some velcro. A carbon wing joiner, threaded control rods, servo covers and a steel music wire pushrod (rudder) round out the kit. An assembly manual (and decal set) is included, however it is mostly written in Japanese. Fortunately the instructions are largely pictorial and a modeler with some control system installation experience should have no trouble with this build.
