Smoother operation and comes with a solder-on pigtail with a plug that connects directly into the X9E. Modify your Taranis with this 6 position mode switch. Replaces one of the pots near the top of the radio.

The 6 position switch can be installed in place of your S1 or S2 pots at the top of your Taranis X9D radio or pots 1 & 5 on the X9E. The result will be a 6 position rotary switch that can be used for flight modes, flap positions, or whatever you can think of. Users asked for this feature, and FrSky listened. Requires basic soldering skills to install.

Note: While the switch can be made to work via custom curves, etc. The new firmware (OpenTX 2.0 and later) will make this switch much more functional. This firmware is already in place on Taranis Plus & X9E radios.

Note: 2/18/2016 - The new 6 position switch is much improved and easier to turn. For X9E radio users, please note that you may need to grind some plastic on the inside of your radio shell to install this switch. Wire is no longer supplied by FrSky on this item.

12/2/2019 - For owners of the newer X9D 2019 (ACCESS) radios, you will need to replace one of the existing pots on your radio with this 6 position as there is no S3 position available on these radios.

UPDATE - What we are now selling has no knob or wire harness. We have dropped the price to reflect this.

6position switch

Great switch for the Teranis Tx

Spacing is not equal

This is a high quality switch but the spacing is a bit odd. An easy modification to make it equal steps is shown here. This modification can make it suitable for more radios. I have one of these in a Taranis X9D+ and didn't need to do anything to it. I recently installed one in a Radiomaster TX16S after doing the mod.

Switch works great

Easy to install, wired same as switch using color code of wires. Works, easy to program.

Update on install in X9D + 2019

This turned out to be a waste of my time for the most part. I did learn a LOT about opening up a Taranis case. I could not get the switch to work as S3 in my new radio. I tried another switch from another supplier to eliminate the switch as a problem. I even tried wiring to the board in the same order as the older X9D Taranis + The new 2019 + boards have changed. The top to bottom wiring order on the board as per the silk screen lettering is ground, source voltage, then signal. See the picture from my original post. I'm assuming the place I wired to is for S3. It isn't marked as such. With the switch fully installed it doesn't calibrate. Sometimes it's setting goes away and resets S3 to none vs a multi position switch. Mostly it just acts like it's seen but not working. I spent a lot of time rechecking my work. I swear I saw it calibrate originally but stop. I found a wire that came loose at the switch from a bad solder joint. I was super careful to avoid excessive heat with soldering and didn't get a good connection. Luckily with it disconnected everything still works fine. I haven't broken or damaged the radio. I did not wire the switch to S2 or S1. I may try that down the road if I need its 6 positions for a flight mode setup. I fly dlg multi rotor stuff. I can't blame Aloft for anything except for their lack of awareness of the situation with the newest Taranis X9D + 2019 board changes. I couldn't find anything about this situation on the web.
