The RunCam 3S is a budget camera and a solid option. It doesn't feel cheap when you hold it in your hand and it shoots very nice video. And at this price point, it also doesn't hurt as bad if you lose it or smash it into a zillion pieces.
Imaging is pretty good. It excels at pulling details out of the shadows (dynamic range), perhaps better than it's similarly shaped competitors. It produces clear, sharp video that may be a little light in the color department depending on your taste. It's not terrible by any means but it lacks a little of the color depth of it's more expensive peers. Conversely, if you plan on editing your videos and pushing the colors in post processing, the 3S's footage is perfect. There are plenty of videos on YouTube showcasing the 3S if you would like to see some sample footage.
RunCam has written an app that allows you to set and adjust the cameras parameters from your phone. This is a handy feature and is reasonably easy to use. The app can be found here, iphone and here for android.
