The Stormbird

Quick Overview

The latest high performance glider by designer Dr James Hammond.

Availability: In stock

Armed with a completely new planform, new airfoils, and a new roomier, stronger fuselage, the Stormbird is the latest installment in James' prolific line of high performance gliders. Like all of the Aeroic thoroughbreds, the Stormbird is easy to fly, tracks like it's on rails, is highly aerobatic and lands like a gentle lady.

Here's why....

The new wing planform has been highly optimized and the airfoils, wind tunnel tested. One major advance came from the use of thinner wing sections, possible, due to the recent improvements in wing servo technologies. To despite the thinner sections, there was still plenty of room to add wing ballast tubes, bringing the total ballast capacity to 1.8kg using brass slugs! Carrying all of this is Aeroics sine wave spar. Used in several military aircraft, the sine wave spar has proven itself with its low weight and ultra high strength. Unlike conventional spars the sine wave adds considerable torsional strength while being lighter than traditional spars.

The curvy, sleek, fuselage has been constructed using Carbon and Kevlar in the boom and the nose has been designed to be 2.4Ghz friendly. To round out the new features, a slip on nose cone has been added making the installation and maintenance of your radio gear less of a chore. In addition, the nose cone area has been increased in length and volume, making the job of balancing the craft much easier.

So there you have it, the Stormbird; technologically current and beautifully crafted.
