A great tape for making hinges on model planes. Lasts for years, is tear resistant, and of course is flexible.
Blenderm tape by 3M has been popular for hinges on model planes for at least a decade. It is lightweight and flexible and takes a good amount of abuse. Great for smaller planes, parkflyers, etc.
Bevel the leading edge of the surface you are hinging to about 45 degrees, then run the tape along the length of top of the surface. Leave a bit of space (maybe 1/32") between the trailing edge of wing/stab and the control surface to be attached. For added security, add 2 or 3 small strips of tape from the bottom of the surface, careful to get it pressed up into the bevel, distribute these small strips evenly along the bottom surface.
