The AB Models Composite Hawkie is an RC slope glider with a durable composite fuse and a wood sheeted wing. It's one piece wing, 1 meter wingspan and a 76cm fuselage grants the Hawkie increased stability and superior aerodynamic performance.
Anton at AB Models is the mastermind behind all of his models. Anton is a slope god that has been producing amazing kits for a very long time and we are honored to offer them here. One thing Anton is great as is mixing things up with his models. This new composite version of the Hawkie is a very different animal than his earlier EPP versions. The speed range and flying qualities are much improved with the solid composite structures.
Check out this video to see a Hawkie with a very nice paint job on the slope.
Most of the work on the wing is done for you. The wing is fabricated from foam cores sheeted in Obeche wood. The servo pockets and wire channels are pre-cut as well as the control surfaces. The wing leading edges are made from spruce to help reduce leading edge damage during landings.
The epoxy fiberglass fuselages get the full treatment too, they are well made with an eye towards strength and keeping weight down. Carbon tow has been added in high stress areas.
The elevator is constructed from medium density balsa, and is cut to shape. The sanding and hinges need to be performed by the builder.
- Wingspan: 1 meter
