Balsa Bullet
Are you looking for a fast and fun sport model that can do some cool Delta tricks? The Balsa Bullet is the plane for you! she will turn heads at your field!
The range of performance on this little model is wide reaching. It can be a very docile park flyer thanks to a low flying weight in the 200 gram range, but it can be a fun speed freak and it can do those cool delta tricks such as Cobra stalls and some high alpha. Like to roll? The Bullet has no shortage with an insane roll rate of several hundred per minute if you like. Or do them all in a single flight. And very easy to land.
Unlike most pusher aircraft you will find that the Balsa Bullet is very quiet. We like to think of this as airfield friendly. Being quiet is great as we are not upsetting the neighbors, but did you know your plane will be faster and more efficient when it is quiet?
Pictured is prototype #3, nearly the same as the production model. You can see the basswood spars in the wing and vertical, the leading edge of the wing is also basswood for durability.
Following a long development period we have refined this wooden kit to be very easy to build and resilient. A rubber nose is included should you have a less than ideal landing. As a bonus no tricky sanding on the nose area! Running a tri blade prop (3x3) would usually result in a bunch of busted props on landing, but we extended the vertical stabilizer down below the fuselage to protect the prop and give critical stability when flying in high alpha attitudes.
Clocking in around 90 mph with out test setup on a small 4S pack, we enjoyed nice long 12 minute flights! One of our pilots will be testing 6S soon, that should push the Bullet to120mph or more. She's not called a bullet for nothing! (Update - we now stock and suggest the hotter SmooX 1507 plus 3800KV motor, this gives better performance at the cost of flight time. She can be flown with a similar sized motor that is about 2500 kv if you would like the longer flight times.)
