A rugged and affordable slope wing ready for combat
Mike at Fancy Foam wanted a plane that would push the limits of the Slope combat rules. The rules limit you to a 48" wing span and a total weight of 35oz. He started with his popular SST and increased the chord and then optimized the airfoil thickness for the larger size. Wing area is king in combat! so that is what you see with the Mega format, a lot of wing area within that 48" wing span. The airfoil is still symmetrical for great inverted and aerobatic performance! A nimble wing is great for combat! The result is faster than the standard F-SST and very agile. The energy retention is great. Flying acro is fun and the combat performance in average lift or better is outstanding. This plane can take a hit, and recover very quickly, again, key for a good combat ship.
There are two versions of the Mega available; The Lite version is made from 1.3lb density EPP foam and the AUW is approx. 20 ounces. This version is able to fly in lighter conditions due to its reduced weight.
The standard version is made from 1.9lb density EPP foam and has a AUW of approx. 30-35 ounces and is able to take more abuse and carry a bit more energy.
